Out of school for spring break and wouldn’t you know this is the week Mass Effect 3 comes out.  Can’t wait!!!

For the most part I just finished Mass Effect 2.  I think I spent 26 hours or so on the game.  I do have a few little side missions to do but the main storyline is done.  There are lots of endings.  Below is my ending:

I decided to blow that place sky high against the Illusive Man’s wishes.  Fuck you Martin Sheen.

Shepard lived.  Only one member of my crew died.  Miranda died while defending the door.  I had her loyalty until she got in a pissing contest with Jack and I sided with Jack.  No matter what I did after that Miranda was pissed.  So when she died I didn’t cry a river, in fact I said good riddance bitch.

The game was a lot of fun.  So much stuff to do.  I would finish one mission only to get 3 more.  Definitely not a game for you power gamers out there that like to finish a game in one day.  It was a long game but held my attention through the whole thing.  I haven’t played the first Mass Effect but I’m definitely going to do so.  As far as ME 2, I haven’t decided if I’m going to play through again or just finish all the side missions and call it a day.  While I wish I had all the crew to take into Mass Effect 3 I think I can live without Miranda.

This game like Dead Space 2 (to me) was better than the original game.  First, it revamped the hacking mechanism, which drove me crazy in the first game.  Second, they added new abilities and tools that are top notch.  These are abilities you will use over and over again and you will love them.  I said more than once how much I wished some of these things were in the first game.  Thank you developers for listening to your players!!!!

In Bioshock 2 you get a hacking tool.  Which comes with various options (instant hack darts, remote hack darts and mini turrets).  The remote dart hack ability is AWESOME, though I’m sure some will say it makes that aspect of the game too easy.  I personally loved it.  You can literally be across the room and hack a camera or turret.  Please tell me what is not awesome about that???  The instant hack ability becomes especially handy for those times when a turret or camera catches you unaware.  No hacking required.  Point the tool at the camera/turret and it is hacked.  Sweet!!! 

The hacking mechanism itself is no more twist and turning tube puzzles that you have to figure out.  Instead, it is a needle that goes left to right and you have to land the needle in any green area.  If you land on the red areas you will trigger an alarm.  If you land on the blue areas you get a special reward.  At the ammo machines it is a random piece of ammo and at the first aid stations it is usually a first aid pack.  Add with this special abilities you can buy with ADAM that will slow the needle down or make the green area bigger and hacking is so much easier.  With all of these special gadgets and abilities there is zero reason not to hack every machine you come in contact with. 

The ability to defend is also really improved upon in the 2nd game.  The mini turrets that you can bring out to defend you are AWESOME.  They especially come in handy when you have to watch over a little sister while she harvests ADAM or for those times when you need to build a perimeter.  Between the mini turrets and the trap rivets setting up a perimeter and annihilating the enemy is so much better in this game. 

The game itself was immersive and the story like in the first game was stellar.  When I heard that the third game will not take place in Rapture I was more than a little disappointed.  It was interesting playing as a Big Daddy.  I didn’t really care for his drill, though maybe it was because I still have memories of it bashing my head in during the first game.  The little sisters… I love them.  They are freaky, no doubt about it, but I found myself taking on the role of “Big Daddy” and protector very seriously.  One of my favorite lines from the little sisters was when I used incinerate on a splicer and she says… Look Daddy a marshmallow :)

Obviously, I think you should play this game.  I’m not a fan of FPS but this series completely changed my mind about that.  Play this game… seriously!!!!
